Explore the Blue Mountains Botanic Garden for your special moment

With its misty, mountainside location, emerald lawns and seasonal floral and foliage displays, there’s arguably no more romantic place in the Sydney surrounds than the Garden.

Whether for a romantic getaway, a first date, a marriage proposal or even a wedding, this glorious Garden surrounded by World Heritage-listed wilderness offers the perfect backdrop for celebrating your love. With countless private alcoves, hillsides with spectacular vistas, dappled arbors or garden pockets bursting with colour creating the perfect setting for capturing your most special moment.

Romance isn’t restricted to one day in the Gardens – love is in the air, whatever the season. Pack a picnic and find a secluded patch of sunshine on our rolling lawns, or cuddle up under a blanket on a romantic garden bench, soaking up the views, listening to bird song and enjoying each other’s company without the interference of crowds.

There are literally dozens of secret nooks within the garden to find privacy and seclusion: try the tranquil magnolia lawn near the Woodland precinct; alongside The Beach, accompanied by the tinkle of the waterfall; or under shelter in the Northern Pavilion, with views across the Heath and Heather Garden to the bushland of the Greater Blue Mountains World Heritage Area.

Alternatively, seek out the shade of a spreading oak tree, its canopy a blaze of reds, russets and gold during Autumn; or Summer alongside our annual display of dahlias.

Spring, of course, is the most romantic season of all, with the ephemeral vision of falling cherry blossoms, and bulbs springing to life on the Brunet Meadow. And as the garden bursts into colour, even the birdlife likes to get in on the romantic action.

Sit quietly and observe blue fairy wrens flitting and flirting around the blossom trees in the Residence Garden; or wander to the base of the Araucaria Lawn where you may be lucky enough to witness the seductive dance of a male lyrebird as it attempts to lure a mate.

Tying the knot

For those who want to seal the romantic deal, the Blue Mountains Botanic Garden Mount Tomah offer a Proposal Package, guaranteeing a private and enchanting garden location, a table and two chairs, and a photography permit so you can capture your declaration of love.
