Kayte Wilkie is a highly experienced Senior Horticulturist and Acting Supervisor at the Royal Botanic Garden Sydney, with a career spanning almost 20 years. She is a well-rounded horticulturist, having honed her skills through her work alongside industry experts and her own garden maintenance business.

Kayte is an expert in the fine art of hedging and shaping and has knowledge and experience in meadow installations and caring for native Australian plants.

Most days you’ll find her at a morning meeting, then heading out to site to start work with the sun rising alongside her, followed by prioritising tasks such as hedging, weeding, mulching, and attaching tags to plants.

Kayte's passion for horticulture and her dedication to expanding her knowledge has led her to complete certificates in Parks and Gardens Horticultre and Landscape Construction as well as a Diploma in Landscape Design.

Her work can be seen across the Royal Botanic Garden Sydney, including The Meadow where she installed a wild garden; topiary displays including the Echidna; annual floral displays within the Calyx.

Kayte loves being outdoors and working in the fresh air and her favourite plant is Acacia Baileyana because of its distinct yellow hue. She is enthusiastic about connecting with nature and regularly goes trekking to look for flora, to clear her mind and challenge herself.

Kayte takes great pride in preserving the Garden's Living Collection and her vision for the future is to maintain its beauty so that future generations can enjoy this wonderful green space.
