What is the event?

The event takes place from 1pm to 9pm on Saturday 26 October. It is an 18+ event and up to 16,000 patrons are expected to attend.

Which areas of the Domain / Garden are impacted by this event and when?

The event will occupy the Phillip Precinct of the Domain from 21 October to 30 October 2024.

I am not attending the event, will I still be able to access the Domain / Garden on the event day/s?

Yes, the Royal Botanic Garden Sydney will be open as normal. 

While Oktoberfest takes place in the Phillip Precinct of the Domain and this area will be fenced from 21 October to 30 October 2024, other parts of the Domain ie. The Crescent Precinct, Tarpeian Precinct and Yurong Precinct will remain open as normal. 

What will the traffic and access impacts be?

We encourage patrons to use public transport to and from the event:

  • Train: exit via St James, Martin Place or Circular Quay
  • Ferry: walk to The Domain from Circular Quay
  • Bus: for timetables, maps and trip planning visit www.transportnsw.info

Road Closures 

There are no road closures required for this event. However, some delays may be experienced during peak ingress and egress times. Police may close roads for short period during peak egress if required. A vehicle drop off zone will be in place at the corner of Hospital Road and Art Gallery Road.

Footpath Closures 

Phillip Path and Central Ave will be closed from 7am on 21 October until 6pm on 30 October 2024. Arbor Day Walk will be closed on event day only from midday on Saturday 26 October until midnight on Sunday 27 October 2024.

Parking restrictions / parking availability 

Limited paid parking is available on site and at the Domain Car Park (operated by Wilson Parking).

Mobility Pass Holder access

A dedicated event drop off zone will be operational on Saturday 26 October located on Hospital Road near the corner of Art Gallery Road. Parking is available at Domain car park with lift access to the Crescent precinct which is adjacent to the event site. 

Will the Terrace / Botanic Restaurant be open as usual?

Will there be any sound impacts related to this event?

Sound checks will be carried out on Saturday 26 October between 11am and 1pm followed by event sound from 1pm to 9pm.
